Lower oil prices and the introduction of winter blend gasoline to Southern California gas pumps combined to drive down gas prices further in the last week, according to the Automobile Club of Southern California's Weekend Gas Watch. The retail statewide average is $3.73 a gallon for regular unleaded, which is five cents lower than last week.

The average price of self-serve regular gasoline in the Los Angeles-Long Beach area is $3.78 per gallon, which is five cents lower than last week, ten cents lower than last month, and 48 cents higher than last year. In San Diego, the average price is $3.74, which is five cents lower than last Thursday, ten cents lower than last month, and 47 cents higher than this time last year. On the Central Coast, the average price is $3.78, which is four cents lower than week, seven cents lower than last month, and 53 cents higher than last year. In Riverside, the average per-gallon price is $3.69, which is six cents lower than last week, nine cents lower than last month, and 47 cents more than this time last year.

“Gas stations began selling winter-blend gasoline last Thursday, which has lowered production costs by at least 12 cents a gallon, so consumers should continue to see more price drops to account for that difference,” said Auto Club spokesman Jeffrey Spring. “At the same time, oil prices have continued dropping, making gasoline less expensive to produce, and we are entering the low fuel demand season. All this is good news for the near-record 4.2 million Southern Californians who will start their Thanksgiving holiday journeys in less than two weeks.”
