Southern California gas prices have now been holding steady or rising for seven straight weeks in most areas, according to the Automobile Club of Southern California's Weekend Gas Watch. The retail statewide average is $3.60 a gallon for regular unleaded, four cents higher than last Thursday.

The average price of self-serve regular gasoline in the Los Angeles-Long Beach area is $3.65 per gallon, which is four cents more than last week, an increase of 10 cents from last month, and 61 cents higher than last year. In San Diego, the average price is $3.63, which is five cents more than last Thursday, 14 cents more than last month, and 62 cents higher than this time last year. On the Central Coast, the average price is $3.67, which is five cents higher than last week, 13 cents higher than last month, and 57 cents higher than last year. In Riverside, the average per-gallon price is $3.57, which is three cents more than last week, 11 cents higher than last month, and 57 cents more than at this time last year.

“Since early March, prices have climbed by 20 to 25 cents in most areas, and overall they have risen by nearly 50 cents since Jan. 1, but that’s still a lower-than-normal spring price increase,” said Auto Club spokesman Jeffrey Spring. “Gas prices are rising a little more quickly now, so drivers should be sure they are paying the lowest prices by shopping around virtually with tools such as the free AAA app.”

The Weekend Gas Watch monitors the average price of gasoline. As of 9 a.m. on April 26, averages are:
