Gas prices rose by just two cents or less over the past week in most Southland areas, according to the Automobile Club of Southern California's Weekend Gas Watch. The retail statewide average is $3.51 a gallon for regular unleaded, two cents higher than last Thursday.

The average price of self-serve regular gasoline in the Los Angeles-Long Beach area is $3.58 per gallon, which is two cents higher than last week, 16 cents higher than last month, and 56 cents higher than last year. In San Diego, the average price is $3.54, which is two cents more than last Thursday, 15 cents more than last month, and 53 cents higher than this time last year. On the Central Coast, the average price is $3.58, which is one cent higher than last week, 16 cents higher than last month, and 48 cents higher than last year. In Riverside, the average per-gallon price is $3.50, which is three cents more than last week, 14 cents higher than last month, and 53 cents more than at this time last year.

“The normal spring season upward price pressure continues, but luckily so far this year it has not resulted in an extreme price spike that Southern California often experiences during this season,” said Auto Club spokesman Jeffrey Spring. “So far, gas price averages in most local areas have risen by less than 50 cents a gallon since the start of the year.”

The Weekend Gas Watch monitors the average price of gasoline. As of 9 a.m. on April 5, averages are:
