(LOS ANGELES, March 13, 2012) — The 4th Annual Teen Party Expo, a celebration of youth cultural diversity, and where the Automobile Club of Southern California will host a teen driver safety booth, is set for Sunday, March 25.
The family event is being held at the Los Angeles Convention Center from noon to 5 p.m. The event is designed for teens preparing for their Quinceanera, sweet 16 parties, cotillion, bar/bat mitzvahs and proms.
Thousands of teen-agers and their families are expected at the convention center, Petree Hall, 1201 S. Figueroa St. The event is open to the public and admission is $10.
“Coming of age” celebrations are observed all over the world. Event organizers say that they’ll be transforming the Los Angeles Convention Center into a young, cool and hip environment with celebrities, red carpet experiences, live music, fashion shows, and other activities.
The Auto Club’s booth and staff will host teen driver safety activities with DUI “fatal vision goggles” and distracted driving activities to help teens understand the risks and dangers in their early years of driving. Motor vehicle crashes remain the number one killer of teen drivers across the nation, according to Anita Lorz, the Auto Club’s manager of community affairs and traffic safety programs.
The Auto Club also will have several Show Your Card & Save® participating businesses at the teen expo, including Madam Tussands Hollywood, Six Flags Magic Mountain, and Speed Zone.
Other official event sponsors include Boost Mobile, Hoy, KIIS-FM, 96.3 Latino, 97.1 AMP Radio, Kababayan LA, MTV, Univision, Friar Tux Shop, WSS and others. Inside the event, a dance club setting will be re-created with DJ’s and MTV will be casting for upcoming television shows. Young performers will have a chance to sing and possibly become the next great teen music act.
