Members of the Automobile Club of Southern California who own a home can now use pre-screened contractors for home improvement projects and emergency repairs through the new AAA Home Improvement & Repair Network. The new service is being offered throughout Southern California during a time of increasing demand for home improvement.  Fourth quarter 2013 remodeling activity in the nation is expected to rise to $150.9 billion from $126 billion in the fourth quarter of 2012, according to research from the Joint Center for Housing Studies for Harvard University.

The Auto Club’s new service will connect members with qualified contractors for mid-to-large sized home improvement projects and emergency home repairs.  Network contractors are pre-screened and recertified annually for license, insurance and financial stability and have agreed to back their work with a two-year workmanship warranty. The service is provided through Crawford Contractor Connection ®, which screens and manages a network of more than 4,500 licensed contractors throughout the U.S. and Canada.

“Members continually tell us that they look to the Auto Club to provide services that provide peace of mind,” said R. Wendy Sabins, senior vice president of marketing, product management and publishing.  “In addition to the Auto Club’s legendary roadside assistance, members today also have access to our auto, home and life insurance products, cruise and tour vacation planning, DMV services, member rewards discounts and credit card programs, identity theft protection services; and now, through the AAA Home Improvement & Repair Network, members can be referred to a contractor that has been pre-screened, and receive a quote which is reviewed to ensure the bid is competitively priced.”

The AAA Home Improvement & Repair Network is not an insurance claims-related program or a handyman service.  It does cover the following general services:

General Contractor                                           Roofing

Carpet/Upholstery cleaning                               Remodeling

Siding                                                             Gutters

Flooring                                                          Special Needs Modification

In addition, members will have 24/7 access to referrals for home emergency service providers who can assist with emergency plumbing, window board-up and roof tarping, as well as water extraction and cleaning services following flooding or water-related damage.

“The Home Improvement and Repair Network is just another benefit available to over 6 million Auto Club members in Southern California,” added Sabins.  “We expect that this service will help reduce the worry associated with finding and selecting a contractor for mid-to-large size home improvement projects and emergency home repair needs.”

Members will not pay an additional referral fee for access to this service; this contractor referral program is offered as a member benefit.  Typically, a member can expect to be contacted within 48 hours of submitting a request through the AAA Home Improvement & Repair Network.  For more information visit
