Imported gasoline supplies and lower production costs are helping to drive down gas prices and that trend could continue through the end of the year, according to the Automobile Club of Southern California's Weekend Gas Watch. The retail statewide average is $4.01 a gallon for regular unleaded, which is six cents lower than last week.

The average price of self-serve regular gasoline in the Los Angeles-Long Beach area is $4.05 per gallon, which is down seven cents from last week, 18 cents lower than a month ago, and 34 cents higher than last year. In San Diego, the average price is $4.00, which is five cents less than last Thursday, 17 cents less than last month, and 32 cents higher than last year. On the Central Coast, the average price is $4.10, which is five cents lower than last week, 13 cents lower than last month, and 39 cents higher than last year. In Riverside, the average per-gallon price is $3.96, which is six cents lower than last week, 20 cents lower than last month, and 34 cents higher than last year. In San Bernardino, the $4.00 average price is five cents lower than last week, 16 cents lower than last month, and 33 cents higher than a year ago today.

“Los Angeles wholesale gasoline prices have been dropping in response to news of imported supply and refiners selling excess supply on the spot market,” said Auto Club spokesman Jeffrey Spring. “Consumers in most Southern California areas can find prices lower than $3.60 a gallon near them, and the Auto Club encourages drivers to shop around using a tool like the free AAA Mobile app.”

The Weekend Gas Watch monitors the average price of gasoline. As of 9 a.m. on Nov. 14, averages are:
