Auto Club Offers Free Car Buying Guide in Conjunction With L.A. Auto Show That Runs Dec. 1-10

Automotive

(LOS ANGELES, Dec. 1, 2006) — In conjunction with the upcoming L.A. Auto Show, the Automobile Club of Southern California is offering prospective car and truck buyers a free car buying guide that is available at its 75 local offices.

The 16-page guide, "How to Buy a Car" offers substantial information about buying a new car; how to purchase a used car; and how to buy a car through the Auto Club's Car Buying Service at a great haggle-free price. The guide also reviews leasing versus buying for car-shoppers and offers tips to help motorists with their car leasing and car purchasing decisions, according to the Auto Club's Car Buying Service Manager Dave Cavano.

The guide, which is slim enough to fit into a jacket pocket, also provides several pages on how to prepare your current vehicle for sale accompanied by an easy check list to simplify the process, said Cavano.

"This is the time of year that many consumers look at new car models with the idea of buying a new car in the near future. The L.A. Auto Show is a prime event for them to see hundreds of car models, and the Auto Club wants to help prepare them to purchase a car wisely," added Cavano.

The Auto Club also will host a booth at the L.A. Auto Show where members and the general public can meet race car drivers John Force, Robert Hight and Eric Medlin who will sign autographs for them from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Dec. 9. Booth visitors also can obtain a free insurance quote, obtain discounted Auto Club memberships, obtain a replacement spare key for their current vehicle, and take a spin around a race track in a racing simulator. In addition, several race cars, including the AAA NASCAR Cup Show Car and Hight's racer will be on display.

At the booth, the public also can check out the CHP's fatal vision goggles, whose lenses simulate impaired driving vision and mental orientation.

The L.A. Auto Show runs from Friday, Dec. 1 to Sunday, Dec. 10 at the Los Angeles Convention Center, 1201 S. Figueroa St. Admission is $10 for adults; and $7 for seniors age 65 and older. Children 12 and under are free when accompanied by an adult.
