Auto Club Members Can Pay Traffic Tickets Online Through New Website Link to Courts

(Los Angeles, Feb. 23, 2005) — Starting today, nearly six million members of the Automobile Club of Southern California can use the Auto Club's website as a direct link to paying traffic tickets online.

The new service on links members to superior courts in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino and Ventura Counties, where they can pay their traffic tickets online instead of mailing in citations or traveling to courthouses.

"Members already use for a variety of automotive services including car buying, car loans, insurance and automotive maintenance tips," said Auto Club spokesperson Carol Thorp. "Now they will have the convenience of linking directly to court sites to take care of traffic citations and other court-related matters."

Thorp emphasized that the service is simply a convenient link; the Auto Club is not responsible for the court websites and their content and cannot assist members in either paying their tickets or dealing with the courts.

"This is a classic win-win situation," said Los Angeles Superior Court Presiding Judge William A. MacLaughlin. "There are no funds available for court marketing programs and working with the Auto Club is an inspired way to reach potential users of the Court's online traffic services."

The Auto Club is the largest organization to link to the superior courts' online traffic ticket programs to date. The courts want to encourage more people to use their online services. Members will be able to access the service through the web site's automotive section in the traffic safety area.

The Automobile Club of Southern California, the largest AAA affiliate, has been serving members since 1900. Today, Auto Club members benefit by the organization's roadside assistance, financial products, travel agency and trip planning services, highway and transportation safety programs, insurance products and services and automotive pricing, buying and financing programs. Information about these products and services is available on the Auto Club's web site at
